ASSISTING IN WORSHIP
USHERS
Ushers help to facilitate participation in worship. This can involve welcoming worshippers, assuring visitors have what they need, presenting offerings at the altar, and assisting as needed.

ACOLYTES
An acolyte duty is to light the candles on the altar, to carry them in procession, and during the solemn singing of the Gospel; to prepare wine and water for the sacrifice of the Mass; and to assist the sacred ministers at the Mass, and other public services of the Church

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Lay members in good standing can be trained to be Eucharistic ministers. Eucharistic Ministers assist with the setting and clearing of the altar for the Eucharist (Communion) and help to serve the bread and wine to the people. See Deacon Rebecca Bean to be trained for this ministry.

ALTAR COMMITTEE
The Altar Committee prepares the altar for worship and cares for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Co members prepare the sanctuary for services, and clean up afterwards. Altar Guild members frequently supervise the decoration of the sanctuary of the parish with flowers.

LAY READERS
A lay person trained in reading scripture who is appointed by the clergy person in charge of the congregation to read lessons or lead the prayers of the people.
